It has taken a month but the quest by Naoki Hiroshima to get his coveted one letter username back is finally over.
The saga involved some serious social engineering and significant security failures by GoDaddy and Paypal. GoDaddy accepted some of the responsibility at the time but it did little to help Naoki.
Naoki confirmed the username was back in his possession with a tweet earlier today.
Order has been restored.

This is a happy ending not only for me but also for sane employees and loyal users of Twitter's. Congrats to those, too.

In a humorous twist the twitter name that Naoki used whilst trying to get his original name returned is already in someone else’s custody. It’s not actually stolen (he did discard it) but it’s still pretty funny.
Look @N_is_stolen is stolen.
